Listing of Assorted Affiliate Programs
By Francine York, Publisher of Modern Opportunity Website
Think your website can only sell/offer one product or service? Think again! If you have a website, you can earn extra income by joining various affiliate programs. It's easy to do, and, by in large, most companies will not charge you to become an affiliate. Be aware that you should do some research because if your site was set up for you by a particular company they may not allow you to have any other companies, links etc on the site.
What exactly is an affiliate program?
Many companies are willing to pay a commission to people who bring them additional representatives and/or sell their products or services. For example, company ABC sells life insurance and is offering an affiliate sign up at no cost. Should you do it? Obviously the final decision is yours. Some things to think about before you sign up for a particular affiliate program:
1-Is the affiliate program compatible with what your site is all about? For example, if your site sells dog food, an affiliate program selling pet insurance would probably be perfect; but men's shoes might not be.
2-Is there a charge? If so, how much? Are you willing to pay the fee? Again, if you feel strongly that a particular program is what you want and you believe you can do well, perhaps paying the fee would be worth it. Again, the final choice is yours.
3-Is the affiliate program in competition with what you are offering? Normally, if you are selling life insurance, you would probably not want to join an affiliate program for life insurance; but you might want to join one with auto and health. That does not mean to say that in some instances it might be beneficial to offer it. You might want to give consumers a choice of the two companies.
4-Research the particular company in which you are interested. Are they reputable? Do they have many compaints with the Better Business Bureau? What is the commission rate? What is their history of paying that commission?
The Process The process is quite simple. Most of the time, you visit a company's website you are interested in, fill out a short affiliate information form and sign the agreement. The company will let you know either right then and there or via email if they accept you. Once you are told that you are accepted, follow the instructions to get to the area of the site that offers the choice of ads. Most companies offer you a choice of banners and text ads;many also supply the html for you to insert into your website. Depending on the space you want to give the affiliate, you can usually choose from a wide variety of sizes, colors, sayings, products offered, etc. Some of the different size banners include the full size: width 468 X height 60;half size: 234width X 30 height; square: 125 X 125; buttons which are much smaller and vary in size; you can also choose a text link. Remember, too, that you can use more than one banner/text ad from a company and put them in different places on your site.
Often once you choose the banner or text link you want, the company will give you the HTML code, including your company ID# already in the code. The next step would be to place the code in your existing HTML code; make sure you place it in the exact place you want it to be seen. This procedure actually places a link on your site to theirs. Be aware, that there are times, when the company does NOT place your affiliate ID# code into the appropriate spot of the HTML code they give you. Rather, they remind you to make sure the correct code is in. This can be a bit difficult for novices to figure out. If this is the case, contact the company, usually there's a support email address and let them know you are having a problem. I have found that most companies will get back to you quickly and assist you. Another thing to be cognizant of is that with some companies, you must save the image on your hard drive and then when putting the HTML into your site, you must refer to where that image is saved so that the computer knows where to look for it. Each company does vary slightly; but in my experience, all of them seem to offer easily followed instructions...at least, most of the time!!
Examples of companies having affiliate programs...For your convenience, we will constantly update this list so please Bookmark this page and keep coming back to see the new affiliate listings. Thank you
Please bear in mind that Modern Opportunity does not endorse any of the following affilate programs; and that the order of the listings is not an indication of publisher's choice. Consumers must "do their homework" and research each company before signing on as an affiliate. If, for whatever reason, you sign up and then decide you do not wish to offer that program, simply remove the link from your site and notify the company of your decision. There are no binding contracts; there are, however, policies you must agree to follow or the company can yank your affiliation.

Are You Making THESE Mistakes With Your Affiliate Program?
By Jeff Smith
You spend a few weeks putting together, or finding your product - now you can sit back while your own ARMY of eager sales people drive sales and fill your bank account.
Sound about right?
It can happen to you.
You really can develop an online business where the vast majority of your sales come from others who are eager to share your product with their customers and subscribers.
Unfortunately 95% of the affiliate programs out there don't follow the success patterns and they pay the price -- no sales, inactive affiliates, lots of administration.
Here's the truth about average affiliate programs...
1. On average, 5% of your affiliates will be active -- which means 95% will NEVER generate ANY traffic or sales.
2. Less than 2% will be SUPER affiliates which will drive BIG sales.
3. For most affiliate programs - less than 1% will stay with you over 6-months.
But wait...
There are some set principles you can follow to make your affiliate program a massive success -- and when you do -- you really can sit back and enjoy the incredible results.
Try these now:
SUCCESS TIP 1: Arm Yourself With Affiliate Tracking Software
There are quite a few options out there.
What you need is a system that allows affiliates to sign up, see their statistics (hits, repeat hits, returns, sales, commissions, payment status, etc...)
You want a system where all of this is automated, that you can use to offer multiple products, that allows you to customize commissions (for special joint venture endorsements) and that enables you to track commissions to be paid and those that have been paid.
Based on personal experience, my preferences are either...
Ultimate Affiliate Software - $200
OR...
AssocTrac - $677
There are also programs where you pay a monthly fee, but generally these require you to pay out over 15% of each sale -- OK if you only make a few sales each month, but if you bank on being successful, you'll want your own software.
SUCCESS TIP 2: Actively Pursue Super Affiliates
Massive success with affiliate programs depends on you seeking out "super affiliates" You have something great to offer webmasters, business owners, ezine publishers -- they just don't know it yet.
Approach them with partnership in mind - open the door by complimenting their business, send an offer they can't refuse and follow up to maintain the relationship.
Use tools like the toolbar from http://www.alexa.com to help find sites that have a good supply of traffic.
Every market has a buying cycle.
Determine where your product fits in the buying cycle, and approach related websites, ezine publishers.
For example, you have a book on computer security. Who might you target?
Sites that deal with computer software, PC support, PC utilities, computer games, DSL (which creates a more vulnerable "always on" connection to your PC)
SUCCESS TIP 3: Make Sure Your Product Has A PSP!
What's your Powerful Selling Proposition?
If you had to write one sentence describing the ultimate benefit of your product - what would it be?
For example...For the security book -- "This Secure Your PC Book will make Bulletproofing Your PC as simple as Turning It on!"
If you don't have a PSP - you better get one RIGHT NOW!!
The Ultimate Information Entrepreneur's Success Package can help you create or fine-tune your products to attract massive demand...
Not only does the fate of your affiliate program depend on this - so does your entire online marketing success.
SUCCESS TIP 4: Your Affiliates Are People Too
It's too easy to sign up hundreds, even thousands of affiliates and look at them as numbers or JUST names.
Make your affiliate program stand out by contacting your affiliates - personally, either via personal email, telephone, or regular newsletter.
Help them be more successful with their affiliate marketing.
Yanik Silver has written the book on nurturing his affiliates -- his main success for...
33 Days to Online Profits
Yanik Silver Announcement
Another master of affiliate follow up is Marlon Sanders of...
Push Button Letters Software
SUCCESS TIP 5: Continue To Improve Your Business
To keep your most successful affiliates, you'll want to keep providing new products for them to earn money with.
They can only market a single product to their lists so often -- if you have more products coming through your pipeline, you'll find those affiliates will stay with you and work with you to a greater extent.
In addition - plan your price points and margins for your products with affiliate marketing in mind.
Can you turn your $27 eBook into a $67 course?
How about a $197 multimedia course?
Many super affiliates will not even LOOK at a product unless it sells for at least $50 and they get 45%+ of that product.
This does depend on the market, but the principle holds true -- higher payouts will motivate super affiliates to be more active, longer.
Don't underestimate the power of affiliate programs.
Joint ventures and affiliate programs go hand-in-hand.
These two ADVANCED marketing techniques can easily mean the difference between struggling online to making a very good living online.
Now you know how!

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Affiliate Marketing - The 10 Keys To Success By: Michael Gates
Where can an average person start a home business without investing any money? The wonderful world of affiliate marketing.
For those looking to enter the world of affiliate marketing, there are some key concepts that can help you succeed. These 10 tips will help you maximize potential profit in the affiliate marketing industry.
1. Focus on a specific area of interest. It can be tempting to sign up for a variety of programs on different topics, or areas of interest, to appeal to a large audience. You need to understand, there are already hundreds of thousands of online shopping malls, which is essentially what you'll have. It will be almost impossible for you to compete with well established sites offering a variety of products. You need to focus on a particular topic, or niche.
2. Find the best affiliate programs for your niche. This seems to be a "no brainer", but there are some things you need consider when choosing the most profitable affiliate program. Does the merchant offer products that people will buy? Is the commission you will be paid high enough to pay for some advertising and still be profitable? Usually, products that are difficult to sell, or are higher priced, offer a higher commission. And products that are easy to sell, and have a lower price, offer lower percentage cuts. Try to find the best commission rate for products that are priced at mid range, and products that will be easy to sell.
3. Build a content-filled web site focused on your niche. The primary focus of your web site is to sell the affiliate products you have chosen. But, if your site does not attract visitors, sales conversion will be virtually impossible. Create a site that focuses on the area of interest you have chosen, and populate it with rich, informative content that people would love to read. Good content will establish you as an expert in the niche. Plus, search engines love content which will give you a better position in the search engine listings.
4. Market your web site. You have to let the online community know about your site. Just because you now have a web site, doesn't mean people will come. Submit online press releases related to your niche, submit your site to search engines. Exchange links with well-visited sites related to your niche, promote your site in online communities, and start a blog (web log). You have to spread the word that your site exists, and that it contains information that will fill the need of your target audience.
5. Market your affiliate products. After you have a consistent number of visitors, it?s time to promote the affiliate products you?re selling. This is usually done with a sales page that is part of your web site. A sales page is basically an article listing the benefits of your product, and what it will do for your niche audience. Benefits can be "it can improve the quality of your life", or "learn the secrets the experts don?t want you to know". These sales page benefits may seem exaggerated, but they work.
6. Build an email list. How many web sites have you visited? Have you visited a site, found something of interest, gotten interrupted, left the site and never returned? Of course you have. Don't let this happen to your visitors. Ask your visitors for a first name and an email address when they visit your site. Offer them something in return for that information. If they have some interest in your offering, but leave the site for whatever reason, you can email them later, reminding them to come back to your site.
7. Don't hide behind a web site. I am amazed at how many web sites I see with no name or contact information. Most people prefer to do business with someone with a real name, someone they can contact, someone they can get to know. Provide your real name, and an email address on your website so potential customers can contact you with questions, and know there is a real person behind that website.
8. Build a network. Become friends with other affiliate marketers. Share information about the best deals, the most effective strategies, and perhaps, even some lists of potential buyers. Remember, the world is all about a network of contacts, and you never know when one of your contacts will help you out.
9. Do not limit yourself to one affiliate program. Join as many as you can without losing the focus of what you want to sell. Greater variety is good, as long as your products are niche related. The more niche products you offer, the greater the chances that one will be bought.
10. Be patient and don't quit. Don't expect great results overnight. It takes time to build traffic to your site, to build your email list, and to build relationships. If you quit, you certainly won't be successful. But if you're patient and stick with it, affiliate marketing can be very profitable and rewarding.

Why You Should Work More Than One Network Marketing/Affiliate
Program
By Mike DePriest (c) Copyright, All Rights Reserved
http://www.MikesWealthSystem.com
Of the tens of thousands of network marketing/affiliate programs
that havestarted up in the last 50 years, no more than 50 have made
itpast the 5 year mark. What does this tell you about a large percentage
of the network marketing /affiliate opportunities out there?Well, on the
whole, they're not the most stable ventures. But they're hardly less stable
than any other business startup.
All businesses run the risk of running out of business or running themselves
into the ground. This does not mean you should say,"Forget it!" to network
marketing/affiliates.It just means you have to work the system in a different
way.
After years so experiencing the network marketing/affiliate game, and
involvement with dozens of different opportunities, I've learned a very
important lesson: investing in network marketing is like investing in the
stock market--to succeed, you have to diversify. Many recruiters will
tell their new recruits not to get involved in more than one program at a
time. They say this for two reasons: first, because they want you to focus
only on their opportunity, and second, there was a time when involvement
in more than one program at a time was practically impossible. Thank good
-ness technology and the Internet changed all that. Now you can work more
than one network marketing/affiliate program easily. In fact, I've known
people who worked a dozen at a time, and they made good money at it too.
Using flash presentations, lead forms, autoresponders, and other automated
systems that are easily implemented into any network marketing/affiliate
program, more programs doesn't necessarily mean more work. Not only
will you be able to multiply the amount of money you make by the number
of additional programs you're involved in, but also you will be able to root
out the winners and focus your attention on them, instead of investing all your
time and money in a program that may go under in a year.
Network marketing is like the stock market--you can lose your
shirt if you put all your eggs in the wrong basket (pardon the
mixed metaphors). So get involved in as many opportunities as you
want and don't worry about spreading yourself thin. With
technology and the Internet to support your businesses, it's
practically impossible to spread yourself too thin.

How Super Affiliates Choose Their Top Affiliate Program
By Detlev Reimer
You will certainly have heard about success stories from affiliates who are making their living just by selling products which they haven't even created themselves... How did they know which affiliate program to promote?
Going after the money or your interests?
When you're promoting affiliate programs, you have two choices: Either you can decide to promote popular items which are very likely to be sold as there is a huge level of interest (a lot of competition also) or you can promote something you really like, something that is related to your hobbies and interests.
The best thing is to combine the best of both worlds by promoting a product which is in demand but which interests you as well. For example products related to golfing are very popular and there are a lot of keywords related to that area. And if you are a golfer yourself, you will have no problems finding topics to write about on your site.
You could write about how to improve your golf swing or where to find the best golf equipment or you simply explain golfing rules. That's up to you.
Whatever you decide, make sure you do your keyword research. The best tool I know of to find related keywords to your main keyword is an online tool called WordTracker. With this tool, you'll find dozens if not hundreds of related words and phrases together with an analysis for the profitabililty in the search engines. It even shows you how often people have searched for these combinations.
I'm using the suggestions from WordTracker myself now to create highly targeted and optimized affiliate sites!
What are the most important facts before promoting any affiliate program?
1) There must be a demand for the product the merchant is offering. You can check this by visiting Overture.com and see if any sellers are bidding on keywords related to the product you want to offer.
2) The commission must be substantial in itself. If you're promoting a $5 item then you need to make a lot of sales and it can be as difficult as selling a high ticket item. Make sure it's worth it. Commissions of 50% would be desirable (mainly digital goods) but for high ticket items even just 20-45% will do it.
Personally, I would not promote anything that offers me a commission lower than $15 per sale.
3) You should be able to reach someone at the company if you have any questions related to the product. After all, if you don't know enough details, how are you going to sell these items to your customers?
4) The sales letter must be convincing enough to get people to buy the product. Put yourself in your customers' shoes and ask yourself: Would I buy the product myself when I was visiting this page? Moreover, the sales letter has got to have enough testimonials included. This will boost your conversion ratio.
5) There should be a money-back guarantee for the product being sold. If the affiliate program owner doesn't offer this, then you better search for something different to promote...!
6) Physical address and contact info should be visible on the site.
7) The affiliate program must offer realtime statistics so you can see how many visits you are converting into sales. If you are using an affiliate network like ClickBank or Commission Junction, be sure to use tracking links for your ads to be able to check the number of visitors.
Where to find those profitable affiliate programs?
There are several dozens of affiliate program directories and these places are the first choice for affiliate marketers to look at when searching for new products to promote. Typically, the best known directories will be searched first, like Alan Gardyne's AssociatePrograms.com or Chuck McCullough's AffiliateMatch.com.
Another way to find the most profitable affiliate programs is by searching in regular affiliate networks like the before mentioned ClickBank (for digital goods) and Commission Junction (mainly physical goods).
Conclusion:
Most super affiliates will look in affiliate program directories to find their top performing affiliate program. If the product owner offers a fair share of the profits (for physical goods around 5-20% and for digital goods about 35-75%), the super affiliate will choose the one which offers him the highest payout when the points 1-7 of my list above are okay with the merchant.

10 Steps To Bigger Affiliate Commissions! By Chuck McCullough
If you're having trouble making money from affiliate programs, or are looking for ways to increase your existing income from them, here is a quick list to get you going:
1. Learn how to PRE-sell your visitors instead of
hard-selling them. Using this technique will put
your visitors in the right frame of mind to visit
the merchant's website and have a look at the
product offerings.
2. Focus on one or two products and put all of your
your effort into promoting them. Your visitors
aren't looking for a shopping mall, but rather a
website that has great information on their area
of interest.
3. Purchase the products you are promoting. This will
enable you to know first-hand if the product is of
high-enough quality to deserve your efforts, and
will give you the ability to provide an honest
recommendation based on your own experience with
the product.
4. Create an email course and include your affiliate
link in each email with a recommendation on how that
product will help your visitors. Setup an
autoresponder to put this idea on autopilot.
5. Write articles and submit them to newsletter authors
and article directories. You can either include a
recommendation for the product within the article, or
at the end in your author's resource box.
6. Add a few lines promoting an affiliate product in your
signature that goes out in all of your emails. Every
email you send will have your advertisement with your
affiliate link in it.
7. Purchase a domain name strictly for the purpose of
promoting your favorite affiliate program. Use a
forwarding service to redirect the domain name to
your favorite affiliate program.
8. Create a mini site that focuses on only one affiliate
program. Spend your time promoting this site through
search engine positioning, pay-per-click search
engines, ezine ads, etc.
9. Create an ebook with useful information on your chosen
topic and give it away. In your ebook you will have
links to different affiliate products and if any sales
are made through them you will get the commissions.
Make sure you let other webmasters know they are free
to give away your ebook as well so you can get as many
copies as possible out there.
10. And last but not least is to create your OWN product!
Satisfied customers will gladly purchase from you again
in the future. If you don't have other products to sell
them, make recommendations of products that you can earn
a commission from through affiliate programs.
This is definitely not intended to be a comprehensive list, but if you apply these techniques you can quickly start to see an increase in your affiliate commissions!
Chuck McCullough shows you exactly how to make serious money through affiliate programs in his new ebook titled:

Affiliate Programs!"

The Affiliate Interview - Do You Have What It Takes? by: Marc Howlett
So you have decided to start up your own home business and after hours of searching you have decided on the program you are going to join.
Now stop and take check before you rush in.
Yes there are thousands of people running their own home business and yes they are making money from them.
What you need to stop and consider is that you will be running you own business and what does any business need to make money? You may come up with several answers but let me tell you from experience the key resource to any successful business is its employees.
You can have the best product or service in the world but if your employees are not up to scratch then you will not have a successful business.
Now a quick search of the net will bring up thousands of affiliate opportunities and companies willing to offer you the job of promoting their service or product and they require little more than you email and user name to get started. They do not really have a lot to loose by employing you to advertise their service as they only pay you for result so no sign ups then no payments, the only real sack able offence in their eyes is spamming
However you do have plenty to loose so consider yourself to be your first employee of your business.
What I am asking is would you employ you?
Do you have what it takes as an employee to make your business successful?
Now would be a good time to sit down and think of the questions that you would ask an interviewee before you were to offer them a job.
Here are 5 simple questions I asked myself before I committed to starting my own online business.
?? 1. What makes you want to start your own business?
?? 2. How many hours a week can you offer the business and do you have a quiet place to run your business from?
?? 3. What specific skill can you bring to this business?
?? 4. Where do you see yourself in 12 months time and what are your goals?
?? 5. How much do you want to earn a month?
As I said these are the simple questions I asked myself, most of us have had a job interview or two so you can think about the questions you were asked and how they may relate to running your own business online.
You can also take this process one step further because as you start to succeed with your online business you will start to build your own down line. You need to look on these people as your employees and consider do they have what it takes to help you grow a winning company.
A great way to use this is when you send out your welcome email include a few simple interview questions. This will help you in 2 ways -
Firstly: You will learn more about you sign up and what their intentions are, this will help make any follow up more personal.
Secondly: Will they make a good employee? If so then spend some time on them and with your help they will grow their business which will in turn grow yours.
So would you employ yourself?
If you have decided the answer is yes then its time to start your business and start taking on your first employees.
Just one last thought for you:

Top 5 Tips For Frustrated
Affiliate Program Marketers
by Isaiah Hull
Do you go through affiliate programs like most people go through pairs of socks? Many Internet marketers do. In fact, 97% of all Internet marketers never make a single cent advertising opportunities on the Internet. They jump from one opportunity to the next and never see results. If you want to break free from this cycle of failure-- if you want to earn a living off of your Internet ventures--continue reading. I will tell you exactly how you can earn money from any legitimate affiliate program.
In order to get the most information from what I am about to explain to you, you must accept that these methods are not intended to be "secrets." These are scientifically-proven, best-practice methods that all top marketers use. If you want results, you will have to do and continue to do the following five things:
1. Know your product. Do not advertise for a product or affiliate program that you are not currently using. I cannot even count the amount of affiliate programs and product offers I have rejected immediately from people who know very little about what they are actually promoting. If you want to make money selling a product or service, you have to use it, understand it, and be able to convince your prospects that they should own it. If you yourself do not believe in it-- because you have not even tried it--then you will have a hard time convincing anyone else it is worthwhile.
2. Know your field. You must continually become more knowledgeable about the market in which you are selling your product or service. For instance, I try to read at least 50 pages on Internet marketing each day to complement the marketing I do. This keeps me learning about my field. The best part about this is that you can do it without spending any money at all. The Internet is loaded with free content sites where you can find free ebooks and special reports on any subject. The Internet is also loaded with affiliate program promoters who are out-selling you. Use google to find these sites and then reverse engineer them--pick apart the source code, page setup, and content layout to find out how you can become more like your competition who is outselling you.
3. Focus your efforts and limit your innovation. As much as "limiting your innovation" may go against your business instincts, it is an absolute must with a limited marketing budget. Figure out what works for you scientifically by measuring your advertising results. When you find something that works, stick with it. If you are getting traffic from reciprocal links, continue to build them. If you are getting constant sign-ups from your newsletter, improve your newsletter and order more leads. Do not stray far from your original plan. Preset the amount of innovative ideas you want to try out each night, but center your marketing efforts around getting better results from methods that have already worked for you.
4. Spend money wisely. The Internet is loaded with scams and bad information. It is really easy to be tricked into blowing money on "get rich quick" schemes and information that you can find in free resources. I personally have spent thousands of dollars needlessly. But do not get me wrong; I am not saying there are no legitimate affiliate promotion services or information products out there: I am saying that the vast majority of them do not work as well as they say they do. So hold onto your cash. When you find a product that multiple people have personally recommended to you, then consider buying it. Otherwise, conserve your cash for purchasing services or products that will produce hard, definite results, such as email leads for your newsletter or phone leads you can contact personally to promote your program.
5. Remember that your success is dependent on your choices and your work alone. If you get upset about not becoming successful with a specific affiliate program, do not blame the program--blame yourself. Do a thorough analysis of what you could be doing better and how you could be making quantitative progress every single day. There are people who do not pay any money at all for promotional services and yet are still able to make a living just from using free tools on the Internet. If they can do it, there is no reason at all why you cannot. Joining a marketing group or forum in your field will help you realize this reality. Seeing and talking to people who are succeeding in your field will remind you that it is entirely possible to make money online without having a million dollars to begin with.
While there are some "secrets" to getting more sign-ups and site visitors, the bigger part of affiliate program marketing is following a sound business plan. If you keep the five concepts I have listed above central to your marketing campaign, you will not fail. But, if you continue to market sporadically--switching from product to product and method to method--you will never break out of that 97% who never make money.

*** You Deserve A Check Today ***
by: (c) 2005 Charlie Page
Perhaps the fastest and easiest way to prosper online is to
market products and services as an affiliate.
While there have been many an article and book written about
how to be an affiliate, most overlook one very important aspect
of the affiliate process.
That aspect is to make sure you get paid!
By way of background, the term "affiliate" on the Internet can
be compared to a commissioned salesperson offline. As an
affiliate, you do the selling, and get paid when a sale is
made.
The beauty part is that you don't have to worry about creating
products, having a merchant account where you collect payments,
doing customer service, and the other things that product
creators have to do.
You just sell and collect your mon'ey. Simple and effective.
And there are literally hundreds of thousands of products you
can promote. From A to Z, if you imagine it, you can sell it as
an affiliate.
If you want to learn how to succeed as an affiliate in 10
simple steps, please consider my short report called "How To
Succeed As An Affiliate for Under $100". It's the same process
I use and will show you how to succeed as an affiliate without
busting your budget. Use this link to learn more.
http://www.realworldtactics.com/cmd.php?Clk=1057679
Over the years, becoming an affiliate of a top selling site is
the most proven path to success. I recommend you learn how to
do this, because being an affiliate is smart business, even if
you create your own products.
But there can be a **hidden problem** when it comes to being an
affiliate. That problem is making sure you get paid!
Here are three ways to make sure that you get paid what is owed
you, and you get it on time.
===> Know When To Expect Payments
Read the fine print! Know when to expect payment. Also, know
the date to write and call if your payment has not arrived.
Keep a calendar with due dates marked by program name.
===> What's The Cookie Policy
A cookie is a little file that is placed on the computer of the
person who clicks your affiliate link. Being able to identify
this cookie is how the affiliate program knows that it's you
who made the sale.
While this is completely automatic for you (all you need do is
promote your affiliate link) you must know the "cookie policy"
of the program you are promoting in order to protect yourself.
Example: Some very large sites only use a one-day cookie. That
means that visitors you send to them today, but buy tomorrow,
do NOT get credited to you!
This seems to be changing about every 5 minutes, so be sure you
are up to date on the cookie policy of your program. You KNOW
the value of a more durable cookie... so pay close attention to
this one.
===> Lifetime Commissions & Exclusivity
Lifetime on the Net means as long as the company is in
business, and your link is sending buyers, you are paid.
Exclusivity means that to sell my widget, you cannot sell other
widgets. Very few programs require this, but if you find one
that does, think long and hard before joining.
Lifetime commissions are very important because they mean that
links you put out there today and get clicked on months from
now will still pay you the commissions you deserve. Look for
Lifetime Commission programs here.
http://www.lifetimecommissions.com
You work very hard to participate in the affiliate programs
that you believe will do the best for you. You deserve payment
as agreed.
Take these steps to ensure you get what you earned and remember
that agreements prevent disagreements, so do take time to know
the policies of any program you are going to promote.
By taking a few simple steps in the beginning, you can
establish affiliate relationships with great companies that
will pay you very well and last for years.
And THAT is a beautiful thing indeed!

Making Money From Affiliate Programs by
Elena Fawkner
Affiliate programs are a great way to generate income if you don't have a product of your own to promote yet. You know that already. But it's NOT, despite what you've heard, just a simple matter of signing up for this or that affiliate program and placing free and paid classified ads all over the place to generate traffic to the Website they give you or to get people to click on your autoresponder link. There's more to it than that. Much more.
When I started out in this business in May 1999, I signed up for Cookie Cutter. Like many of you I thought that I could simply absorb the information provided and then resell it to others. I followed all the advice about advertising in other people's ezines and all of that. I looked forward to some very round numbers. Well, I got one alright. A big fat ZERO. And that's how it stayed until I realized the truth. That if I was going to make any money in this business I had to start from scratch. In saying that, I don't want to take anything away from Cookie Cutter. It was and is a marvelous product in terms of what it can teach you in a very short period of time if you're starting from ground zero. (Debate rages about its merits in terms of a business opportunity but that's another story.)
In this article, I tell you what worked for me. It's nothing earth- shattering or particularly profound. It's simply reality and common sense. Here's what you need to do to make any significant income from promoting other people's products.
YOU NEED A WEBSITE
Sorry, but yes, you do. A lot of people pushing their affiliate program will tell you, if you ask the question "Do I need my own Website?", "No, you get this beautiful 25 page Website for free!" Great. How are you going to get people to visit it? And how are you going to get people to visit YOUR YouBeaut.com Website in preference to everyone else's YouBeaut.com Website (all 50,000 of them)?
Well, let me tell you, the time, effort and expense you would have to spend would be MUCH better invested in your OWN unique and interesting Website that will attract traffic simply because it IS unique and interesting.
That said, you pick your affiliate programs to fit in with and complement your Website Not the other way around. You do NOT create your Website to fit in with and complement your affiliate programs. So, start with what you know, what interests you, what you're passionate about. THAT should be the subject matter of your Website Then, and only then, should you start researching which affiliate programs out there fit in with the Website you have created. More about that later.
YOU NEED AN EZINE
You should support your Website by publishing an ezine at least on a monthly basis but preferably weekly. Why? A few reasons:
First, it reminds your readers that your site exists (assuming they signed up at your site in the first place) and hopefully prompts them to visit again.
Second, you develop a targeted mailing list of subscribers interested in the subject matter of your ezine and subscribers that you can direct mail to (judiciously, of course).
Third, you can accept paid advertising in your ezine once it hits 1000 subscribers or so and fourth, you can use it to advertise your affiliate programs.
In addition, assuming you take your ezine publishing duties seriously and it's not a mere regurgitation of other people's articles without any purpose other than to keep your name in front of an audience (and an ever-decreasing one it will be if that's all you do), you can use it to develop your reputation as an expert in your field by making the original articles you write for your ezine available to a wider audience by submitting them to other ezine publishers. Believe me, there's no shortage of ezine publishers out there who rely exclusively on other people's work!
Establishing your own Website and ezine takes serious time and work. You can't build either in a weekend. It will take you several weeks of effort to get it into good enough shape to take it public (and even then you won't be satisfied but you have to start at some point). And it will take several more weeks of time and effort publicizing the fact that your Website and ezine exist and to start seeing some traffic trickling in.
SELECTING AFFILIATE PROGRAMS
Once you have an established Website and ezine, you can start using them to promote your affiliate programs in a serious way. You can, of course, start promoting affiliate programs from day one, it's just that you won't see any results until you reach what I think of as the "established" stage. By this I mean you have a few hundred subscribers to your ezine and maybe a hundred unique daily visitors to your Website These numbers are on the very low end and your sales will reflect that but you'll at least be on your way by this point.
Once you reach the "established" stage, you need to be very selective about the affiliate programs you choose because you are only going to select a very few of them and they need to be good performers. Some Internet marketing so-called experts will tell you to pick one or two programs and market them exclusively for big returns. That's good advice on one level - it keeps you focused, and that's important - but on the other hand you're at the mercy of the owner of the affiliate program. If they go out of business so do you.
So, pick a small handful of programs to promote but make sure they complement each other (so that someone who is interested in one program is likely to be equally interested in the others). It should be obvious but it bears stating - don't pick programs that have no relevance to the subject matter of your site! Your chances of selling to your Website visitors are much higher if what you sell is closely related to the subject matter of your site. It was the subject matter of your site that attracted them in the first place. They are already a qualified prospect if what you sell from your site is relevant to that subject matter.
COMMISSION STRUCTURES
If you have a mega traffic site, then you can make up for in volume what a particular program's commission structure may lack in terms of straight dollars.
But if you have a lower traffic site, then you need to make sure your traffic is very targeted, but go for higher commission programs.
In other words, if you're a mega traffic site, by all means sign up with Amazon.com and make maybe three bucks a sale. If you make a hundred sales this week you've got three hundred bucks you didn't have before. But if you're a lower traffic site, focus on making just three sales a week of a product that pays a hundred bucks a pop and you're even with your mega traffic brethren in the commission stakes.
My current best selling program earns me $90 a sale. I don't do anything different to promote that than I do the program that makes me $20 a sale. If it takes the same amount of time and effort to make a sale from each program, why wouldn't I focus my energies on the $90 commission product?
Contrary to what many believe, it is no harder to sell a $247 product than it is to sell a $50 product. Don't prejudge your audience. Make sure you offer programs that are relevant to their interests (and which you're proud to promote - that should go without saying but just in case ...) and the mere fact that you're bringing targeted buyers and highly relevant products together will do the rest, statistically speaking. Never, never forget - making money in an online business is a numbers game, pure and simple. Generate enough traffic and you'll generate sales. But if you generate traffic that doesn't match your product line, forget about it.
MISCELLANEOUS CONSIDERATIONS
To finish off, here's a few miscellaneous considerations to take into account when selecting your affiliate programs.
How Long Do the Cookies Last?
Always go for programs that will credit you with the sale even if the customer doesn't buy on the first visit. That high paying program I mentioned above? 90% of the sales come from the follow-up messages sent by the owner of the program once I give him the lead.
That's pretty typical of all affiliate programs. You've heard that it takes an average of seven exposures to a message before a prospect will buy, right? Well, what happens to your commissions if you only get paid for direct sales (i.e. where the customer buys on the first visit following a direct link from your site)? Right. You get maybe 10% of the commissions you would have earned from the program if the customer was tagged as yours for a period of time (and preferably for life).
Always read the terms and conditions of the affiliate program carefully before investing your time and effort. If it says anything like "if customer later makes a purchase on a repeat visit that does not originate from your link, you will not qualify for a commission on such sale" keep looking.
Some programs will place a cookie on the customer's hard disk for 45 days or so which means that if that customer returns in three weeks to eventually make a purchase, that customer will be identified as "yours" and you will get the commission. Some programs even offer "lifetime customers", that is, the customer is yours for life even if they come back in three years time and buy a completely different product.
Stats Reporting
Look for real-time reporting of statistics including hits and sales. Then check to make sure that the hits the affiliate program records are in line with your own stats tracking. This is easy to do. I use Roibot to track all clicks I'm interested in monitoring whether it's a program I'm promoting or whether I'm just interested in how many people click on a particular link to an article, for example. (To check out the Roibot suite of marketing tools, click this (Roibot) link: http://www.roibot.com/).
Frequency (and Amount) of Payments
Some programs will only pay once you accumulate a certain amount of commission dollars. That's OK ... it keeps admin costs down and therefore makes more of the profit available for payment of generous commissions ... but if it's disproportionately high compared to the amount of the base commission, consider another program.
If it takes you a year to accumulate $50 in commissions, ask yourself how likely is it that this particular company will still be around in one years? Even if you have no concerns on that score, if it's taking you a year to accumulate $50 worth of commissions, this is not a program that's giving a particularly good return on your investment of time and effort. Look for something more productive.
How Long Established?
Related to the previous discussion, think twice before investing too much time and effort on newly established programs. Add these to your portfolio by all means, but make your staple programs the tried and trues.
What is Their Policy on Spam?
Nothing irritates me more than to receive spam from someone promoting one of the programs that I promote (well, OK, other things do irritate me more but you get my point). Not because I get into a tizz about spam per se (unlike apparently 90% of the Internet population I have more important things to worry about), but such tactics bring the program into disrepute because it suggests that the owner of the program condones spam and if the owner of the program condones it, how much value does he or she place on the program? Not much.
So look for programs with strict anti-spam policies.
SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE
Finally, a word about patience. This is a slow and steady wins the race game as well as a numbers game. Don't spit the dummy, throw in the towel, chuck the Glomesh onto the shagpile (or whatever your vernacular equivalent of a dummy spit is) because you don't make a single sale in your first month with a new program.
By all means take a closer look at how well the product fits in with the demographics of your audience (Website and ezine) but if it's a good fit, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater (enough with the metaphors already, OK). Instead, refine your marketing approach, tweak your ads, brainstorm for more creative ways of promoting the program.
Don't just write the program off as bad until you're sure it's not going to work for you. There may be some peculiar demographic factor common to your group that you're not aware of but until you've given it a good try, don't assume that's the case.
As a general rule, so long as you're sure that the product is a good fit, work with it for a year to give it a real chance of performing for you. The Internet landscape is strewn with the carcasses of would-be successful entrepreneurs whose only mistake was giving up too soon. Don't be one of them.

Peaches and Cream by Bob Osgoodby
Many people who live in a colder climate go south during the
winter, and are often referred to as "Snow Birds". Others move
there permanently after retirement, and some find it's not all
"peaches and cream". Their retirement income may not enough to
live the life style they wish, so they look about for other ways
to generate additional earnings.
Many are attracted to the Internet, and some do very well while
others do not. Those that do not may get quickly disenchanted
and write the Internet off as just a lot of hype, where you can't
earn anything. That's like getting a flat tire in your car, and
swearing that the automobile has no future.
Anyone going into business on the Internet, must do several
things if they hope to achieve success. Probably the first thing
is to recognize and avoid the "get rich quick" schemes, that
promise great earnings in a short period of time, with little if
any effort on you unfortunately a lot of people bite.
Believing the hype of some affiliate deals, they join a few and
quickly find that they don't have to install a bigger mailbox to
hold all the payments they thought they would get. Many of these
programs require that you pay a monthly fee to be involved, and
the founders are the only ones making money. If someone tells you
that you don't have to work, forget about it. Like any other
business, if you don't put forth any effort, your chances of
success are slim to none.
Even if you do all the right things, like your car, you may get a
flat tire along the way. That is not the time to quit. You may
experience several failures before finding the right one.
Before "jumping in with both feet" however, examine some of the
offers being made on the Internet. The very best way to do this
is to subscribe to some online publications and review the ads.
Paid ads that appear on a regular basis are a good sign of
potentially good opportunities. If the advertisers were not
making any money, they wouldn't be spending their hard earned
money for them.
While free advertising has its place, it cannot be the only
method you use. The old saying "that you have to spend a buck to
make a buck" is equally true on the Internet. Consider placing
your ad in the ezines or newsletters that have a high repeat rate
with their advertisers.
Your ad headline and copy are critical to your success. Don't
use the copy supplied by the affiliate program, as many people
use them, and those ads get tired very quickly. If necessary,
get some professional help in writing your ad. A good ad will
pull - a bad or tired ad won't.
Target your ads toward those you think will become a prospect.
Millions of ads sent out as unsolicited email (spam) will do
little if any good. A well constructed ad in an ezine, targeted
to the proper audience, even if they only have a few thousand
subscribers, will out pull the spam.
Something as simplistic as being a Amazon.com affiliate can
generate income. If you are an expert in your field, and get
recognized as one, an affiliate program with Amazon might be the
way to go. You may not become wealthy overnight, but as your
exposure grows, so will your income.
If you don't have your own web site, forget about it. That's
like a merchant without a store trying to do business out of the
back of their car. The cost of web space is so low today, that
you can't afford not to have one.
If you are a "Snow Bird" or simply someone wishing to supplement
their income, you can achieve success on the web. But it does
take work and some common sense. If you don't, it just may be
your business that "went south", and all is not "peaches and
cream".

How to Booost Your Affiliate Commissions by 30%
by Satyajeet Hattangadi
Affiliate marketing is one tough business. Everyone online today is looking to make or save money in any way they can.
In the good old days when internet marketing was in its infancy, most of the people who clicked on your affiliate links used to purchase without a second thought... but, now as times are getting tougher, and visitors getting more cynical, you'll be amazed at the number who won't!
Just one flaw in a system and you will find dozens of unscrupulous people waiting to exploit it. Same goes for affiliate commission tracker systems. People who know how to manipulate the system will replace your affiliate ID with theirs and "hijack" your commissions.
Most affiliate links are some form or the other of http://www.thesite.com/?YOURID
Where your affiliate id is passed as a parameter. A thief has to simply change the "YOURID" part to "THEIRID" to put your money in their pocket.
In other cases, there are visitors to your site who simply can't stand the thought of you "making money off them" so they bypass you by simply chopping off the end of your affiliate link that contains your ID.
Instead of buying from http://www.thesite.com/?YOURID, the bypasser will simply "chop off" the affiliate ID at the end and simply buy from the plain URL http://www.thesite.com/ --without your affiliate ID attached!
Bam! you just got cheated out of your rightful commission.
Studies have shown that this phenomenon causes about 30% lost sales.
By following some of these simple tips you will be able to at least confuse most hijackers and, in many cases, often disarm them completely.
You might notice I said most and not all. This is because if the hijacker is well versed at html and javascipt he will be able to eventually get to your affiliate link. However, most hijackers are just opportunists who will only act if they see an easy buck and its this segment that we can beat.
The simplest way to hide your affiliate links is using a javascript redirect page.
This is where you hide your affiliate link in a page on your site using a simple javascript that redirects people to your affiliate link.
This way your "naked" affiliate link is not exposed in your actual email messages and ezine ads, but people get redirected to the true affiliate link.
One possible drawback of this method is that some affiliate programs, like clickbank for example, expose the affiliate link along with your ID in the browser address bar.
So if the viewer is eagle-eyed he will notice that he's been redirected through an affiliate link.
A safer method to hide your affiliate links is using a zero-frame or "invisible" frame that masks the affiliate link by making it appear you are sending people to a page on your website. In reality, you are actually sending them to your affiliate link.
This technique is also used by many domain redirection service sites.
Unfortunately if the user views the source of the page. He know whats that you've loaded an affiliate link.
The solution is to use javascript encryption to scramble up the page code.
Even though there isn't a 100% perfect solution to this problem, if you want to get paid more often through your affiliate links, make sure it's not obvious you're referring people to an affiliate link.
If they can't see that its a affiliate link, lower the possibility of you getting stiffed of your commission.
If you are looking for a tool that lets you do all this plus earn affiliate commissions even from those folk who dont click your affiliate link then do check out Covert Affiliate at http://www.novasoft-inc.net/covert-affiliate

High Earning Affiliate Is It Possible ?
by Michel Richer
Affiliate Program have exploded on the internet. Thousand of people join them every day. Amazon.com is probably the best example of such phenomenal success.
If the affiliate program is so popular and so widely available and booming like mushroom...Why do most affiliate have a hard time making $100 per month ? And some never see have receive a check ? It's probably because they are not effective in their marketing campaign or doing noting at all.
But some affiliates are making big bucks. They are the one with an income of ($100,000 and over per year). There is also a big majority who still make a good income (around $10 000 to $75 000 a year). Of course the vast majority of affiliate will never make that much money. They fail miserably.
So what is wrong with them ?
THEY DON'T SET GOALS
Most people fail at anything because most people don't have a clear vision of where they are heading. They don't take the time to learn and experiment. They give up too easily.
Yes, it feels "unproductive" to prepare and set up a system... But it's how the successful succeed.
The solution? Planning and learning.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT AFFILIATE PROGRAM
Choosing the best companies is an art in itself. Choose affiliate program that are already successful and well established like SFI. Choose the one that offer good training and good marketing aids.
Successful affiliates select the best companies. They use new ideas and creativity to attract customers. They never give up.
DEVELOP A GOOD WEBSITE
Lot's of people don't know how to design a website. Or don't have the money to hire a webmaster. Even the ones who can design a website. They design poor content or poor design. Produce low value gateway pages. They use free web hosting. They don't master the search engine.
The solution? Take what you know, what you love, and turn it into a Theme-Based Content Site. Attract highly targeted, interested customers, provide solid value through content, then refer them to your affiliated merchants.
DRIVING TRAFFIC
Having lot's of traffic to your website is a big challenge. But it is essential to be successful. Or at least to make a reasonable amount of money.
You have to make your site "search engine friendly". You need content for the search engine to spider your website.
You need to know how your webpage is index and how well it is ranked on the SE to better perform.
Use every marketing method to drive traffic.
PPC Campaign
Linking Strategy
Writing Articles
Ezine Publishing
Newsletter
Banner Advertising
Viral Marketing (EBooks, Freeware etc.)
Offline as well. (Business Cards, Flyers, Radio Spots etc.)
CONCLUSION

Did you know that up to 30% of affiliate commissions never get paid. Why?
Stop "affiliate link hijackers" before they rip you off!
Please take a moment to read this because it concerns your
affiliate commissions.
I'm writing to you today because of some disturbing
information I've uncovered in my research on affiliate
marketing - Affiliate Commission Theft.
It's the least known yet most widespread Internet
marketing problems for ebook publishers, writers, and
resellers. In short, what I found was, if you use affiliate
programs in any way, shape or form, people are almost
certainly stealing YOUR money!
How much? Up to 30% of all affiliate commissions are
"hijacked" or bypassed, often by customers who either put
their own affiliate IDs in where yours should be or who
"chop off" affiliate links at the end of URLs.
SOLUTION: I've discovered software to help even the least
technically-minded person stop the "affiliate link
hijackers" dead in their tracks!

It's called "Affiliate Link Cloaker," and is it ever easy to
use! While it has some very sophisticated technology and
actually encrypts your affiliate link, all you need to use
it is a PC and Web site. No technical skills required!
In fact, in five simple steps that take only a few minutes,
you can make any product you sell as an affiliate look like
it has its own page on your site.
Your affiliate link will literally disappear. People won't
even realize you're selling it as an affiliate!
Plus, you can use the program for a whole bunch of other
nifty things, INCLUDING listing other people's products
(with your hidden affiliate link) on the search engines! (I
know that sounds technically impossible, but it's actually
very easy with Affiliate Link Cloaker.)
This software was tested on 3 live projects and went through
12 revisions. It's now idiot-proof and "ready for prime time!"

The developer showed it to the real hard-core techie-
experts, the ones who would rip a hole a mile wide in it if
they found anything wrong with it. Not only did they love
it, but they won't give it back! :)
Here's what they're saying:
"Anyone utilizing affiliate program links must have your new
affiliate link cloaker as part of their marketing arsenal.
I am recommending this to everyone I know!"
-Armand Morin, Developer, eCover Generator software
"After losing $1000's of dollars in the past to affiliate
hijackers, I now feel safe again, thanks to this remarkable
new tool."
- Gene Ramos, Owner, Digital 360 Web Hosting
"It doesn't matter if you're a beginner or a Super
Affiliate, the cloaker will increase the amount of money you
make from affiliate programs!"
