The introduction states"consider this book an off-road map to the rest of your life." I agree! The concept of retiring retirement is examined at length.

Too Young to Retire is a straight forward, "how to" book which covered such topics as: volunteering; money issues; toward wellness; what's working and not working in your life; radical departures, i.e., traveling. My favorite section, 101 opportunities for the open-minded, discusses a variety of jobs, including descriptions that are a bit outside those listed in the Department of Labor's book, Dictionary of Occupational Titles. They are, nonetheless, viable options.

One of the things I liked was the inspirational quotes that began each of the first six chapters. These quotes set the tone for the reader. The seventh chapter was devoted to resources: books, websites and other tools. These resources were listed categorically to match with the six chapters of the book; and are a handy source unto itself. Of course, the index is always useful to the reader.

This book is not for the faint of heart, but what it is is a call to action for a burgeoning generation of active seniors…who ain't your grandma and grandpa of long ago happily rocking on the front "granny" porch. This short and to the point book is a practical handbook for those not ready to sit on that porch sipping lemonade and talking about the weather!

The strong message…don't fear retirement, it's just another phase of your life; you can retire and still be extremely active and fulfilled.
