Tip of the Month: Things That Go Boom in the Night by Bob Osgoodby

Or, for that matter in the daytime as well. We are talking
about a good old fashioned "Thunder Boomer." While a good surge
protector can keep your computer safe during a thunderstorm, I
still unplug mine. After all, if the thing isn't plugged into
the wall, it's kind of hard for a spike or surge to get through.

But you say it is a real pain in the neck to have to bend down,
crawl under the desk and unplug everything. And of course, when
the storm is over you have plug everything back in.

Here is what I do. I bought a "cheapie" extension that looks
like a surge protector, but really isn't. (Any heavy duty
extension will suffice) It sits on my desk behind my monitor -
in other words in a convenient and easy to reach location. That
is plugged into the wall outlet. Then, I have my surge
protector which is on the floor, with all the other plugs,
plugged into that.

Also, try to keep all your computer's external components
(monitors, scanners, printers, etc) plugged into the same surge
protector as the computer. That way, when you pull the plug, all
your equipment is protected and you don't risk a spike / surge
coming through an external component and damaging your computer.

Niche Marketing Success - Part One by Jonathan Street

Throughout this 3 part article I'm going to explode any preconceptions
that you may have with regards to making a living online. So if you're
of the herd mentality I suggest you don't read on. You're not going to
like what I'm going to say, and neither are many of the "guru's" out there.

However. If you want to really know what it takes to make a living online,
in a simple step-by-step blueprint, then the next few days are going to be
the most eye opening hours of your life.

You see it is highly unlikely you'll ever become rich selling products about
making money online. Of course you may, many have, but these are master marketers
who already have big lists and their own products.

Don't worry, there is hope. And this hope comes in the new internet phenomenon of
niche marketing. And the great news is the niche marketing blueprint I'm going to be
teaching you in this 3 part article includes all the big internet moneymakers: Ebooks,
affiliate programs, ad sense and blogging. It is proven to make five hundred dollars
per niche project. The simple question is how many streams of income can you handle?

Let's start be defining exactly what a niche is. Well quite simply a niche market is a
group of passionate people who are collectively searching the net for an answer to a
common problem, and not finding it.

You can make a six figure income online by finding these niche markets, and answering
their problems.

The reason why people fail to make the really great money niche marketing offers
is because firstly they jump straight into a niche they think needs a product.
Wrong. You need to find a niche that wants a product. (More on this shortly).

Right. Let's begin the simple blueprint by identifying your passions and hobbies…

One of the greatest things about starting your own home based online business
is that you can centre it around your passions and hobbies. And it's just common
sense that the more enthusiastic you are about your business, the more you'll be
willing to put the effort in, and therefore the greater your chances of success.

I want you to write down as many of your passions and hobbies as you can. Be specific.
For example don't write "sports", write which sports. Fishing for example.

The great thing about the system you're learning today is that there is an extremely
low chance of failure. We leave nothing to chance and research the market so we know
for certain that there is money to be made.

Using the free and low cost tools that I'm going to teach you about now, you can
see exactly what your market is searching for, and how many web sites are serving this market.

Your secret weapon in your quest for success is keywords. Keywords are simply the
words that people type into search engines like google when they're trying to find
information on a certain topic. This shows what "real people" are searching for online
and allows you to uncover real active markets.

So when you've got a comprehensive list of specific niche markets I want you to go to
www.inventory.overture.com. I want you to type in your niche key words.

Let's say you love fishing. You'd type in "fishing" and be greeted with a list of all
of the sub niches under the general fishing niche that people searched for in the
overture search engine that month.

Make a list of all of these sub niches with a number of 15,000+ on the left hand side
of the page. For example fly fishing, bass fishing, cat fishing etc. Copy and paste
all of these sub niches into a word document.

NB: Make sure that it is people looking for information and not a physical product.
For example Alaskan fishing trip, not fishing rod.

Next go to www.wordtracker.com. It will cost you around $4 for a one day pass, but
here we can really drill down to check the potential for our niches.

Click on "keyword universe". Enter in one of your sub-niche terms. Let's say it was
"Ice fishing". You'd type that into the box when prompted, and then add keyword terms
related to ice fishing into your word tracker basket (all will become clear when
at word tracker)

Then go through the simple steps with one of your sub niches until you come to a page
where you can click on "competition search". Click on that then on Overture PPC.

You'll be greeted with a list of keywords that you can bid on and get ranked in the
overture PPC search engine so that whenever someone types in one of your keyword terms
into the overture search engine you have a small classified advert on the right hand side
of the page. You pay a small fee whenever someone clicks on this ad.

You're looking for a niche where on average you could get into the top five spots for
many of your niche keywords for five cents and under. Once you've found that then it's
time to move on to finding out exactly what that niche wants.

If for one niche you're paying dollars per click scrap it and move on and test out some
more. Keep plugging away until you find a niche ready to exploit.

I want you to put into action the simple steps that I have taught you today. The next

Niche Marketing Success - Part Two by Jonathan Street

I showed you on Monday how to find a hot niche. It's a simple enough process,
but does take a little digging and persistence. Too many become despondent if
they don't find a hot niche straight away. The fact is the more effort you put
in, the more you'll make in the long run. By all means jump head first into a niche
without any research, but you'll get burnt I assure you.

So once you've found a niche wouldn't it be amazing to have them tell you what
products they'd buy from you? Well the good news is we can. And this survey process
can be set up quickly and easily. And it's free!

Go to www.surveymonkey.com. Once here you need to input a question. Some people
like to ask a ton of different questions. However in my experience people don't want
to answer a whole load of questions. So we're going to keep things simple and ask just
one. However this one question will give you a whole host of ideas ready for you to profit from.

The question you'll be asking is "what is your biggest problem with" niche name. Or
"what is your biggest question on?"

For example if your niche was on bass fishing you'd ask the question "what is your
biggest question on bass fishing?", "What problems with your bass fishing would you
like solved?"

Now all you need to do is locate people who will be willing to spend a couple of
minutes answering that question in exchange for a free ebook on the subject once
it is finished. How do you do this?

Go to www.groups.google.com. Type in the keyword that describes your niche. Bass
fishing for example. What you'll get is a list of discussion groups and forums on your
niche subject. Once here all you need do is post the following on as many different
forums as you can…

"Hi everyone. My name is ……. And I'm currently carrying out some research in the field
of ……..In order to create a brand new and exciting ebook. I was wondering if you could
go to (survey monkey URL) and answer the question I have put up there. It will take
you less then five minutes and I'll give you the product free and a free mention in
the book once it has finished. All your help is very much appreciated."

Post that message in as many different forums on the subject as you can and then just
walk away from your business for the next few days. I've had nearly 60 answers overnight
before in one of my niches. On average though you can expect to get all the answers you'll
need over 3 - 5 days.

Once you've got a comprehensive list of problems people want answered the next step is simple.
Go to www.elance.com. Elance is an absolute gem of a site. If you're having trouble building
a web page, with graphics or pretty much any aspect of your online business, you can have
someone do it for you at elance for very little money.

All you're going to do is create a free account with elance and post up an ebook project
on their site. Writers will then bid on your project and you can read reviews of these
writers and pick the one that you think suits your needs to a tee at a reasonable price.

Never, ever give away exactly what your niche is. Some unscrupulous people scour elance in
the hope of finding profitable niches that others have found. If your niche was a sub niche
for fishing for example, you'd post a project that said something like "I am looking for a
60-80 page ebook created in a sub-niche of fishing. Please PM me for more details."

And that's it. Post your project up on elance, sit back and wait for the bids to come in and
then pick someone with great feedback and a reasonable price.

Then all you need to do is quite simply email them the word document from your survey with the
questions your niche wants answered and say to them "please create an ebook that answers these
questions". That's it. Job done.

Can you see how little work is actually required to get these little niche projects off the
ground? Can you see how we're removing pretty much all chances of failure? We've found a niche
with minimal competition, and now made 100% sure that people within that niche will want to
buy our ebook. Perfect.

If you cannot afford to have a writer create your ebook (it will cost around $450 - $600) then
there's a free way of creating a product. Go through the questions from your survey. Type in
the exact question into google and then search for articles that answer this question. I assure
you that you'll find some.

Then simply email the author asking if you can include it in your ebook and that you'll include
their resource box and link back to their site from within the book.

Do that for all of your questions and you've just created a hot selling ebook for free. Brilliant huh!

Read Niche Marketing Success - Part Three by Jonathan Street

Niche blogs are taking over the search engines. With a simple blog you can shoot yourself
to the top of the search engines extremely quickly without any search engine optimisation
experience whatsoever. And when you are at the top of the search engines for your niche your
business will go from hundreds of dollars a week, to thousands of dollars a week. That's a promise.

So how do you do this? Well quite simply you become a blog info publisher. You're going to
become a resource for your niche.

The reason blogs can shoot to the top of the search engines is because unlike normal web sites,
they are updated constantly and can gain many links extremely quickly.

Start by going to www.blogger.com and sign up for a free blog. Make sure you include your niche
keyword in both your title and your blog description.

Next add ten keyword dense articles (you can hire a writer to do this from elance.com for around
fifty dollars). If you write the articles yourself make sure you use your keyword at least twice
in every paragraph.

Then go to google and type in your niche keyword with blog after it. For example "Bass fishing blog".
Then post comments on these blogs with a link back to yours.

You can also get automatic blogging software that will do this for you (some frown upon this. But
the fact is it works. Get a copy for free at my site at the end of this article).

Also search for articles in your niche and add these to your blog. You want to be updating your
blog with keyword dense content every day for two weeks at least.

It is vital that every time you add content to your blog that you go to www.pingomatic.com and "ping"
your blog. Quite simply this is just to let the search engines know that you have updated your blog,
and this is what shoots your blog up the search engines.

But how can this make you money?

Well at the top of your blog you'll have a link to your ebook web site. Let's say your blog was on
wedding planning, once you're at the top of the search engines (this DOES work. Stick to it for two
weeks and just watch your blog soar) whenever people typed in "wedding planning" you're blog would
appear in the top ten or so. And whenever they go to your blog they have the chance to go to your main
ebook site and purchase your ebook that you created or had created by a writer at elance.

You can also add adsense revenue and affiliate product revenue. Just add a product review of a product
in your niche, and then add your affiliate link at the bottom.

Using this simple blogging technique you can make an absolute fortune in niche marketing. I sincerely
mean that. This new blogging search engine find will be THE big news of 2006. Dismiss it and you'll regret it.

Also you can start an overture Pay-per-click campaign. (Remember are earlier research to make sure we
could reach our niche for five cents a click or less). This alone can easily acheive your profit target
for 20 sales of your ebook a week.

There's one more stream of income that I want you to add to your business along with your ebook, adsense
and affiliate revenue (from your blog). And that's your back end income.

You see, many people are leaving a hell of a lot of money on the table by sending people to a download
page the second they purchase an ebook. Rather than sending them further product offers, they send them
to a download page and wait for the next customer.

Why not send them to an autoresponder page? This page says "please fill in your email address and first
name and you'll be sent the download links for your (niche) ebook".

When they input their details they're sent the download links, but also over the next few days or weeks
you automatically send them pre-written emails for products that you are an affiliate of.

Rather than just leaving it at sales of your ebook, try and squeeze more money out of each and every customer.

And because this is niche marketing, your customers will not realise it's a pre-written email and think
"hey this person is sending me emails off his own back. I might just check out that product he/she is
talking about". You'll see your affiliate income soar. I guarantee it.

And that's it. That's the exact step-by-step system that every successful niche marketer in the land uses
to rake in the profits for very little actual work.

Will one niche project make you rich? Probably not. But if you created a new niche project every month
for the next year, and each niche project made you a measly five hundred dollars a week (extremely easy
with this system) then…well…you do the math :)

A personal message from the publisher...

How I became a proud, single, work at home grandma.

My name is Francine York, publisher of Modern Opportunity
Web site and newsletter. I welcome you to what is fast becoming the quintessential
business opportunity web site. Not only will you find a wide variety of interesting
and profitable opportunities; but you will find services and products as well. Feel
free to browse the site and read the many informative articles and columns geared to
assisting you in becoming a successful entrepreneur. My email "door" is always open to you;
so email me anytime and you will receive a personal
reply from me.

And now, about my background and how I came to publish this site and newsletter...
Due to budget tightening, my job at a not-for-profit agency was cut back to part time. Because I
needed more of an income, I set out looking for a new position. At about the same time, my daughter
and son-in-law gave me the wonderful news that they were expecting their first child and my first
grandchild! My joy was boundless until the reality of economics deflated my euphoria. My daughter
would have to go back to work three months after the baby was born. I started envisioning he/she
being cared for by strangers in a day care setting. Fortunately, when I had my three children, I
was able to stay at home until the youngest was in full day nursery school; but she could not
financially do the same.
EUREKA! It suddenly became crystal clear...I would stay home and care
for my grandchild.

First I headed for my financial advisor to review my finances and
see if I could do this. He politely and firmly said, "Get a job, send your grandchild to day care
like so many others do; sell your house; giveaway your three dogs; and rent a small apartment, then
maybe you can afford to stay home." Needless to say, I was horrified and angry. You see, I had
recently separated from my husband of many years and could no longer rely on him to help with the
income.
The more people told me what a crazy idea this was, the more I was determined to do it!
I began looking in the classifieds for home based business opportunities. Most listings were for
opportunities for which you needed a great deal of money; and that I would not be able to run from
my home. That was not going to do. Unfortunately, at the time, I was not knowledgeable about the
myriad business opportunities available which can be operated from the home. Finally, I saw an ad
for newspaper for sale. The same week my grandson, Ethan Jacob, was born (May 11, 2002), I became
the new owner of a business opportunity newspaper. Since I knew the impact the Internet has on today's
existence, I immediately started designing a web site. Today, after a year of changes, improvements,
redesign and hard work, the site has grown to over seventy-five pages with more on the way.

I am a proud, single, work at home grandma now; and loving every minute of it!...and guess what?
On March 18, 2004, I became a grandma for the second time...Ryan Caleb!

To give readers, some info about my educational background...I graduated from
Brooklyn College, Brooklyn, NY with Bachelor and Masters of Science degrees in the field of education.
I spent the next four years teaching in a N.Y.C. public junior high school. Coming next was a move
to the "burbs" in 1973 followed by the birth of my third child. When he turned four, I returned to
teaching in a Brooklyn High School. The commute, the conditions and having a mother who was quite ill
caused me to rethink the teaching profession. I decided that I needed a change, a challenge
and to be closer to home. My next venture was opening a retail business...a Hallmark card and
gift store on Long Island. Fifteen successful years later, that was sold. Not at all ready to
sit idly by and watch the world pass me, I sought a new focus. I found a job working for a small
marketing company. Since writing was always my hobby-I have been published several times-I was
able to write copy, marketing plans, radio commercials and the like. It was during that time,
after many years of marriage, that my husband and I decided to separate. The week after my
daughter was married, 8/13/00, I lost my job. Luckily, I was hired to do public relations,
write press releases, oversee the computer program, assist with development, etc. for the
not-for-profit agency at which I had been volunteering as a crisis counselor since 1995.

My story comes full circle... I am a very happy
stay at home, single grandma whose mission is to offer money-making opportunities, services,
products and essential information so others who desire, or need to, will be empowered and
able to stay at home; and they will be able to find all the resources necessary to do just
that right here...so, WELCOME and much success in your endeavors!
