Tip of the Month

Secure Your Computer
Given enough time and using the correct tools, a hacker can break into a
computer and access the files. One reason hackers are able to break into
computer systems so easily is because the user did not create a strong
enough password. Many computer users create passwords after their family
pets, favorite objects and familiar words. This is an extremely bad idea.
For starters, don't choose a password that is in the dictionary. It takes
password cracking software about 10 seconds to crack a word that is in
the dictionary. The password cracking software uses a dictionary file
which contains every word in the dictionary. The software takes the words
and sends them at the object it is trying to crack. This dictionary file
is usually easy to update, since a site on Google provides hundreds of
results.
For more effective passwords, try taking two or three words, slicing them
at random points and them crunching them together. For example, I could
use house and railroad. My outcome might result as "houroad," which is
not in the dictionary.
However the above is not always the best way to go when choosing password.
Eventually, it will be cracked, probably within nine days or so. If you
are locking important information, this is not good enough.
The best password that a user can create is by mixing upper and lower
case letters with numbers. An example of this would be "4xCD34z." This
password would probably take around 200 or so years or so to crack. (I
don't know a single hacker who would want to wait that long). These types
of passwords are hard to memorize, but are the hardest to crack.
The length of the password is a major factor as well. The longer the
password, the longer it takes to crack. To make the most complex password,
a user can also add symbols to their password. Again, the greater the
complexity of the password, the greater the time it takes to break it.

Creating Gigantic Breakthrough Ideas and
Billion Dollar Concepts
Part 1

How do you develop your own breakthrough ideas leading to millions or
billions of revenue-you ask? And you want to know, what secret or insider
techniques do you need to be doing right now to achieve these fantastic payoffs?
Welcome to the little known powerful art of "Brainstorming."
Brainstorming is one of the most effective methods of finding new creative
solutions to difficult problems. But to be effective, you and all your invited
participants must understand the process and the rules required for this
approach to yield billion dollar breakthroughs.
Here's the 3-phase brainstorming process I use and recommend to my global clients:
1. In writing, create your agenda with carefully defined problem(s).
2. Divide the agenda into sections and re-determine time limitations and
idea quotas for each.
3. Make certain all participants understand the established ground rules you
provided for your brainstorming sessions.
Once you have planned the agenda and participants are selected and briefed
on the problem(s) to be tackled, you delegate your leader. Your leader will
be the grounded one. She must be in touch with reality and practicality. She
must avoid influencing the wild ideas flowing from your team members. Your
laid-back leader must not become a dominant, authority figure. Just follow
these simple ground rules and you're off to a good start.
Your LEADER's duties are:
o Adhere to the agenda and time schedule
o Take detailed notes on all expressed ideas
o Warn off critical thinkers; negative thinking is forbidden
o Give your team necessary time to build on each idea
o "Stir the pot" to keep your team members thinking creatively and contributing
fresh ideas and new concepts
Your TEAM's responsibilities are:
o Turn off your inner critic and just allow the ideas to flow. Don't worry as to
whether your ideas are bad or good. Go with the flow and try to improve whatever
concept is put out.
o Encourage "out-of-the-box" thinking, with any and all wild, zany, off-the-wall
ideas that can result in a totally new approach to your problem.
o Ideas are what count right now, the more the better. Worry about worthiness later.
o No matter how offbeat an idea seems, take the time to improve and build on it.
Only after the brainstorming session is over should you allow reality to rear
its practical head and logically decide which of the any ideas present the best
likelihood for success.
Brainstorming Examples
EXAMPLE 1.
Client problem: Free incentive gifts cannot be given to potential health
insurance applicants. How can we meet legal requirements and still offer
an incentive for applying?
You're thinking this problem is insurmountable. Wrong. The answer was
right in front of their eyes.
Solution: Offer a free gift to anyone inquiring about health insurance whether
or not they actually applied. The outcome: The health insurance company
increased applications by over a third.
EXAMPLE 2.
Client problem: We have close to 40 competitors selling to martial arts schools.
All promise "prompt shipment" of their uniforms. How can we capture the majority
of the market, emphasizing 24-hour shipping?
Solution: "Guaranteed Shipment Within 24 Hours" was featured within the catalog
not only on the regular order form but also on a Jiffy order card. Uniform sales
dramatically increased.
EXAMPLE 3.
Client problem: Postal costs keep rising and we are losing money from our
"everybody wins" sweepstakes. We have identified that the loss stems from
"no" entrants.
Solution: "No" entrants were asked to provide a SASE For those who responded
"yes " a prize was included in the shipping carton (approved by the postal
authority at the time). This resulted in a grand-slam home run for this
client-the most successful contest ever for them, with a postage savings
of close to a quarter million dollars.
It does not take much to brainstorm problems, just initiative and time.
And the results are often surprising.
Games of Imagination
What if I told you that you could solve the most irresolute direct
marketing problems by playing a game alone or in a group? Well, you can.
It all starts by writing down three simple words: "I wish that…" and
completing the phrase with what you are most passionate about.
For example, the negative option and Book-of-the-Month Club probably stemmed
from someone wishing they could find a way to spread out their advertising
sales cost over several books rather than one. And a unique computer system
answered the desire to find a way to contact customers one week before their
supplies were depleted. Perhaps you are hoping to find a way to reduce bad
debts by half. A pipe dream? Not if you brainstorm the problem.

Vista

Should I upgrade? With the new release of Microsoft's Operating
system Vista, many people are facing this question.
The short answer is not right away. All operating systems take a
while to settle down and iron out the bugs, no matter how much
testing goes into it. Using XP was a hassle until the service
packs came out, when it became much more stable and secure. Wait
until the first service pack comes out before buying it off the
shelf.
If you're using your PC just to surf the web, do email and use
office programs you really don't need the extra functionality of
Vista. For a lot of people XP works just fine, and they should
keep using it until it doesn't. If that's you, wait until you
need a new PC, then get one with Vista on it.
If you do want to run the latest and greatest operating system
on your machine, the best way to upgrade is to buy a new PC.
That way it'll come pre-installed and you won't have the
inevitable headaches that come with updating an operating
system, and you'll be sure the hardware is up to scratch. If you
buy a computer next year chances are it will come with Vista on
it anyway.
Most people will need to buy a new PC anyway to take full
advantage of Vista's features, since it puts a lot of demand on
hardware. The bottom line here is that if you are thinking about
running it on a low end machine - forget about it.
To get the full functionality of Vista, you need a minimum of a
1GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, and a beefed-up graphics card. Keep
in mind these are the bare minimum requirements. Ideally you
want more if you want your computer to run smoothly.
I have used every release of Windows since "Day 1" - remember
that first ugly purple screen? If you have a functioning XP
system now that is meeting your needs, I can see little reason
to upgrade at this time.

What It Takes To Become One Of The
Success Stories In Network Marketing*

There are many factors that make up a successful MLM marketer.
The one main point of all this is honesty. People in this world are
looking for people to sell them goods that are honest about what
they are selling and not trying to give them a snow job. This comes
on the heels of being a product user as well. If you are not using
the products you are selling then you are going to lose a fair amount
of credibility with the buyers because then they believe that if it
is not good enough for you then it is not good enough for them.
To make the best first impression possible you need to establish a
relationship of trust by telling the customer how you use the product
and all of the pros and cons about it that you have found yourself. Always
find something slightly negative to say about the product. A person who
sits there and does nothing but go on and on about how great something is
sounds fake and insincere.
Another key factor to being successful in MLM marketing is being likable.
As a person you need to adopt a personality that is pleasant and outgoing
above all else. The relationship that you establish with your clients should
be based on mutual trust and a near friendship. If you are pleasant and
friendly with the people you are selling to, you will find there is a
certain amount of success that comes along with that.
Communication with the people you have sold to and brought into your
network is vital to success. When you sign up a new client you will need
to foster the working relationship to help them grow into a proven earner
for you and the network that you are building around them. Take the time
to remain in contact with them on a regular basis, perhaps twice a week.
The more you stay in contact the more their confidence in the network will
grow. When this starts to trickle down the line you will have a network
of people who are effectively selling the products for you and also making
a lot of commissions at the same time.
You should also encourage the members of your network to speak with one another.
Everyone wants to feel like they belong and when you have a group of people that
are speaking and sharing notes you have a recipe for success. The group feeling
allows the network members to interact with one another and understand that
there are others out there working the very same way that they are. This will
help you to work in the positive results of the network while helping everyone
to learn from the mistakes and rejections that have been had along the way.
Communication is probably the single most powerful tool you have available when
it comes to MLM success.

Affiliate Programs, The Smartest Way To Start Your Online Business*

Is it your desire to start an Affiliate Programs business? Or any online business
for that matter? Affiliate programs are the easiest businesses to start. The best
part about having an affiliate business is that you can pick, choose and refuse
who you wish to become affiliated with.
Affiliate programs are the easiest online business to get up and running. Why? Well,
with any online business you must have a product or service to sell. First you must
create this product or service and then you must be able to fill orders.
Selling your own product or service also means creating a website. Then you must learn
how to write ad copy, set up a marketing plan and be able to accept payments online.
These are just a few of the chores you must perform.
Selling a physical product is a bit more complicated. You will need to make an item,
package it and pay for shipping costs. If you provide a service, than you will most
likely have to start by doing free jobs. That will help build your credibility. When
you finally decide to charge for your services, you are still limited by how much
work you can actually handle.
Affiliate programs are a great way to get started in an online business. In fact
there are some Super Affiliates who are making a great income. These programs allow
you to sell someone elses service or product and make a commission on every sale or lead.
You do not need to build a website or handle any transactions. Your job is to drive
traffic to your affiliate link. This link is a special URL code that will identify
customers coming to the affiliate site from your advertising. It will be the website
address with a code attached to the end.
Some affiliate programs also have tiers. That means if someone else is interested in
selling the product and they come through your link and sign up; you get a small
percentage of their earnings as well.
Before you choose a program, try to determine if people are buying that product or
service online. There are many ways to hunt for that information, including free
ways such as the Overture keyword tool.
When you have found an area that is popular, type the subject along with the
affiliate program into your favorite search engine and see which programs have
services or products for that topic.
When you have found a program that looks interesting read its terms. Make sure and
choose programs that give you high payout. Ebooks and downloadable software have
the highest rates as there is no physical product to make or ship. If you are satisfied
with the terms then sign up. It is usually a quick and simple process.
The reason affiliate programs are so great for beginners is that you only need to
focus on marketing. Many affiliate programs have information on how to market and
give you tools such as banners, product feeds and more.
You can also look for other information on marketing including writing articles,
creating pay per click campaigns and commenting in online forums. As you gain
experience drawing traffic, you will make adjustments to your selling strategies
and start creating a wonderful income.

And now, about my background and how I came to publish this site and newsletter...
Due to budget tightening, my job at a not-for-profit agency was cut back to part time. Because I
needed more of an income, I set out looking for a new position. At about the same time, my daughter
and son-in-law gave me the wonderful news that they were expecting their first child and my first
grandchild! My joy was boundless until the reality of economics deflated my euphoria. My daughter
would have to go back to work three months after the baby was born. I started envisioning he/she
being cared for by strangers in a day care setting. Fortunately, when I had my three children, I
was able to stay at home until the youngest was in full day nursery school; but she could not
financially do the same.
EUREKA! It suddenly became crystal clear...I would stay home and care
for my grandchild. First I headed for my financial advisor to review my finances and
see if I could do this. He politely and firmly said, "Get a job, send your grandchild to day care
like so many others do; sell your house; giveaway your three dogs; and rent a small apartment, then
maybe you can afford to stay home." Needless to say, I was horrified and angry. You see, I had
recently separated from my husband of many years and could no longer rely on him to help with the
income.
The more people told me what a crazy idea this was, the more I was determined to do it!
I began looking in the classifieds for home based business opportunities. Most listings were for
opportunities for which you needed a great deal of money; and that I would not be able to run from
my home. That was not going to do. Unfortunately, at the time, I was not knowledgeable about the
myriad business opportunities available which can be operated from the home. Finally, I saw an ad
for newspaper for sale. The same week my grandson, Ethan Jacob, was born (May 11, 2002), I became
the new owner of a business opportunity newspaper. Since I knew the impact the Internet has on today's
existence, I immediately started designing a web site. Today, after several years of changes, improvements,
redesign and hard work, the site has grown to over seventy-five pages with more on the way.
I am a proud, single, work at home grandma now; and loving every minute of it!...and guess what?
On March 18, 2004, I became a grandma for the second time...Ryan Caleb!
To give readers, some info about my educational background...I graduated from
Brooklyn College, Brooklyn, NY with Bachelor and Masters of Science degrees in the field of education.
I spent the next four years teaching in a N.Y.C. public junior high school. Coming next was a move
to the "burbs" in 1973 followed by the birth of my third child. When he turned four, I returned to
teaching in a Brooklyn High School. The commute, the conditions and having a mother who was quite ill
caused me to rethink the teaching profession. I decided that I needed a change, a challenge
and to be closer to home. My next venture was opening a retail business...a Hallmark card and
gift store on Long Island. Fifteen successful years later, that was sold. Not at all ready to
sit idly by and watch the world pass me, I sought a new focus. I found a job working for a small
marketing company. Since writing was always my hobby-I have been published several times-I was
able to write copy, marketing plans, radio commercials and the like. It was during that time,
after many years of marriage, that my husband and I decided to separate. The week after my
daughter was married, 8/13/00, I lost my job. Luckily, I was hired to do public relations,
write press releases, oversee the computer program, assist with development, etc. for the
not-for-profit agency at which I had been volunteering as a crisis counselor since 1995.
My story comes full circle... I am a very happy
stay at home, single grandma whose mission is to offer money-making opportunities, services,
products and essential information so others who desire, or need to, will be empowered and
able to stay at home; and they will be able to find all the resources necessary to do just
that right here...so, WELCOME and much success in your endeavors!
